It seems that Lady Gaga is continuing her mission to copy everything her idol, Madonna does, from covering her music to getting banned from countries cause her show is too provocative! Only difference is with Madonna we enjoyed watching her strip.
Authorities in Indonesia announced last week they had denied a permit for Lady Gaga to perform at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno stadium in June due to pressure from Islamic groups and conservative legislators who claim that her sexy clothing and provocative dancing could corrupt young fans.
“She’s a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child and that she will spread satanic teaching. This is dangerous.” (Salim Alatas, head of the Islamic Defender Front (FPI).
Lady Gaga is no stranger to controversy as she continually tries to reinvent the wheel by mimicking everyone from Madonna to Marilyn Manson and then act as if she’s an original rebellious trend setter. Her gimmicks are so fake and so evident and unfortunately many have and continue to buy into them. When Madonna was drawing protests from religious groups to the Vatican itself it was a genuine desire to express her artisticness of who she was and felt that she was through sex and seduction! And then there’s Marilyn Manson who took rebellion to a completely new level delivering a message of rebellion and power from the weak and unlovely! Both were called devil and satanic yet both were and still are undoubtedly genuine artists of expression.
Earlier today Gaga released a statement about the recent ban, and in true Gaga fashion, left us wondering what she was exactly talking about:
“The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence. If the show does go on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWBall alone”.
WTF?? What does she mean, “Alone”?? From arriving at an award show in an egg, to wearing a dress made of raw meat, Lady Gaga is the epitome of ridiculous gimmicks to garner attention. Has it worked? Unfortunately yes. I’m sure her publicist is glowing right now seeing how the Indonesian concert drama has once again thrust Gaga back into the headlines. I use to be a Gaga fan. Up until she started just a bit too hard to try to cause attention. From ridiculous award show outfits to deliberately penning a theme song for the LGBT community (Born This Way), her originality only lasted as long as her debut album.
30,000 tickets have already been sold for the concert. Hmmm, didn’t the promoters think about a permit before they started selling tickets?? Just a thought….
